Northern Part

The northern part of the island, rocky but away from the glare of tourism, has some remote sandy beaches accessible only by sea. From the port of Agios Nikolaos ships operate local routes to neighboring Cephalonia, the island where “Captain Corelli's Mandolin” was filmed. Small boats operate tours to the famous “Blue Caves” and “Navagio”.

North to South

Following the mountainous line from north to south, tourists can visit the monastery of Anafonitria, Maries, Stavros and Kampi as well as many other picturesque villages, with old stone houses, farmland and many trees.

South East

At the south-east end of the island, the bay of Laganas is formed, which, with its magnificent beach, has been declared a National Park since 1999 and is the spawning place of the endangered Caretta-Caretta turtle.

West Coast

The west coast of the island is rocky and steep, forming many caves and coves. On the contrary, the east coast facing the Peloponnese, is sandy with beautiful beaches. The entire island is ideal for exciting tours and excursions.
